Franna, the Australian pick and carry crane manufacturer owned by Terex, has introduced the AT44 US, the largest crane in its North American range. It follows the AT24 US, launched in 2023, and the FR19 US, launched in early 2025, giving the brand a three-model lineup for the region within two years.
AT44 US Specifications
The AT44 US lifts 44 US tons at a 3-foot-7-inch radius and reaches a maximum hook height of 62 feet. It runs a 308-horsepower Mercedes engine compliant with EPA Tier 4 Final and Stage V, paired with an Allison six-speed automatic transmission. The three-axle design includes a raisable third axle, the crane meets ASME B30.5, and the full-width cab sits on hydro-pneumatic suspension. Safety systems include a Dynamic Load Moment Indicator with Franna's Safety Radar technology.
"The AT44 US is a game-changer for North American customers who demand higher lifting capacities without compromising on mobility or safety," said Kevin Aabel, Business Development Manager for Franna North America.

The Rest of the Lineup
The FR19 US, at the other end of the range, lifts 19 US tons at a 4-foot-11-inch radius with a 56-foot-3-inch hook height, powered by a 121-horsepower Tier 4F Cummins engine through a fully powershift transmission. Like the larger machines, it uses articulated steering, a U-section fabricated boom, and heavy-duty planetary drive axles.

Franna supports the North American range from a dedicated team in Wilmington, North Carolina, and has been building out an authorized distributor and service center network across the region.

Franna Stays With Terex
One detail worth noting: when Terex sold its Tower and Rough Terrain Cranes businesses to Raimondi in November 2025, Franna was explicitly excluded from the deal. The pick and carry line, built in Brisbane, Australia and Hosur, India, remains a Terex brand.
Why Pick and Carry Cranes Matter in Latin America
Pick and carry cranes were built for mining and industrial plants, where a machine has to lift a load, drive it across a site, and set it down without setting up outriggers. That is exactly the workflow at mine sites, refineries, ports, and fabrication yards across Latin America, and it is why Franna's Minemaster variants have a following in the region's mining sector.
